Jewelry Repair Requests – Beginning early 2026 (Limited)
Starting in 2026, I’ll be accepting a small number of repair requests on a case-by-case basis. Because every piece is different – and I’m often working on jewelry made by other artists – I need to see clear photos and hear the story of the piece before I can say yes and offer an estimate.
If I feel your repair isn’t a good fit for my studio, I’ll let you know kindly and as quickly as I can.
Repairs I can often accept
- Clasp repair or replacement (sterling)
- Simple chain repairs in sterling
- Minor solder repairs on sterling jewelry (small breaks, jump rings)
- Light reshaping of a slightly bent sterling ring or band (when structurally safe)
- Tidying up rough or sharp edges on a sterling piece
Repairs I cannot accept
- Costume or plated jewelry
- Resizing rings made by other artists
- Repairing cracked stones
- Replacing a cracked stone inside the original bezel setting
- Large redesigns that belong in full custom work territory
- Pieces featuring precious gemstones (diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, etc.)
Stones I typically work with
I work primarily with non-precious cabochons such as natural turquoise (various mines), variscite, Mexican fire opal, jasper, chalcedony, moonstone, labradorite, and similar stones.
Stone & safety notes
I cannot repair cracked stones.
Cracked stones can sometimes be stabilized through gluing, inlay repair, or by adding metal into the fracture line. However, these techniques require specialized lapidary or inlay work, and I do not offer any of these services.
If your stone is cracked or broken, I can remove it and create a new setting with a new stone. This requires fabricating a new backplate and bezel and falls under my full custom work offerings. You may submit a custom inquiry here: Custom Jewelry Inquiry – 2026.
How pricing works
Repair pricing depends on the type of work needed, how complex or delicate the repair is, and the materials involved. Most straightforward sterling repairs – such as clasp replacement, simple chain soldering, or minor solder repairs – generally begin around $35–$75. These are the estimated costs of simple repairs; more complex work, multiple repair points, or unusual situations will be quoted individually once I review your piece.
After you share your details, I’ll let you know whether I can safely accept the repair and what the estimated price range looks like. No work will begin without your approval.
